Your
body can accumulate a static charge of 10,000 to 20,000 Volt,
especially in a low humidity environment. When you touch another
object like a door handle, the electric charge is discharged
from your
body. The spark may even burn a tiny hole in your finger! This is what
you
feel when you get an "electric shock" from your car, from your door or
from your girlfriend's favorite angora sweater.
You can use this key fob to harmlessly discharge any static build-up
you may unknowingly carry. Simply hold the fob at one end and with the
tip touch a grounded metal object like a door handle, a car door, a
fence, a handrail, etc. The static charge will be transferred to the
grounded object and you won't get an electric shock when you touch the
car door, fence etc. If the little lamp in the device lights up, there
was a considerable static charge of at least 90 Volt.
Each fob is handmade by me and tested for functionality. It is water,
shock, and impact resistant. A 4" ball chain is incluced and lets you
attach the fob to your keychain.
